CHARACTER INFO

Name: Doctor West

Canon: Demonbane

Age: Possibly anywhere between twenty to thirty. It is never stated in the Novel, OVA or any supplementary material. The only hint we have is that he graduated from university.

Appearance: http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120116053058/demonbane/images/2/29/4758-1012143865.png

History: Much of Dr West's history is quite a mystery, mostly because people would try to avoid extended contact with the Prodigy on Paper due to the sheer volume of his eccentricities. But what is known is that Dr West was always had a hand at inventing despite his antics. Some time in his youth he had developed the West Style Super Electron Barrier - a device that was worn on one's back that provided a protective field of such surprising strength that a man can be unscathed when caught in the blast of an explosion from a nuclear warhead.

However given his eccentricities it was highly likely that no sane person would employ him despite his truly unbelievable level of mechanical skill. Enter the Black Lodge - a collection of his canon's greatest and most wicked evils. A collection of sorcerers and minions dedicated to conquest of the world and the collecting of Eldritch lore in the form of Grimores - books of ancient magic that are more than capable of taking a life of their own in service to the one who has the power to awaken them - for a cost, a soul, a lifetime of battle it matters not though to West, for he was beyond such superstitious hokum - despite the fact that he was often pitted against such a thing.
For you see, the Leader of the Black Lodge - Master Therion had charged Doctor West with the retrieval of Al Azif - the Necronomicon... which by the time he had found it had entered the hands of a private investigator by the name of Daijuuji Kurou (The Protagonist of the Canon). Thus began a long series of battles between the two as West attempted to battle Kurou in an attempt to take back what he rightfully wishes to steal for his boss who had provided him with a generous amount of funding to do whatever he damn well pleases in the name of science.
It goes as well as you expect it to go. West fails every single attempt. Though it is to be noted that despite his every failure he is by no means incompetent. In the early battles he was able to keep Kurou on his toes whenever the Super West Destroyer Robot Type 28 was pitted against Demonbane - a powerful machine developed by the Hadou Corporation that can channel the powers of the Necronomicon. At one point he was even able to create a copy of Demonbane - powered by but a single lost page of the Necronomicon. However even sheer technological prowess can't compare to eldritch knowledge and power that spans millennia, and just one page can't compare to the Grimore which had even more.
Eventually West would later leave the Black Lodge due to differences in vision. That being Master Therion summoning Cthulu into the world and was fully intent on destroying it. Which was soon followed up by Therion being killed by his own subordinates who wished to use Cthulu to bring the world to its knees. It is around this time West proceeds to work together with Kurou and battle the forces of the Black Lodge and eventually a revived Master Therion - who in his revival brought with him Yog Sothoth.
When all the battles are over and done with, West proceeded to lend his considerable talents to the Hadou Corporation seeing nowhere else to go.

Canon Point: Post-Canon (Expect declarations of loyalty to 'Big Afro')

Personality: Doctor West is for the lack of better term - Ham Personified. He is on the same level, if not more so of pure unadulterated hamminess as President Michael Wilson from Metal Wolf Chaos. Calling him eccentric and arrogant would be saying that water is only a little wet, and saying he's clever would be like saying the sun's just a little warm. As for common sense, well that's another story altogether, one that isn't appearing in this movie very much.

Doctor West is tremendously flamboyant, intensely fixated on grand gestures, attention grabbing entrances and a style that one can truly call his own. His very appearance itself is as loud and attention grabbing as his personality - that is to say it punches you in the eyes and makes you want to crawl away as quickly as possible because of just how RIDICULOUS things happen to be. His every entrance or introduction is never without the signature riff of his guitar - and it has become a habit for him to use it to punctuate what he believes are moments that require more of his brand of brilliance.

He is given to truly massive and ungodly amounts of Melodrama, not so much chewing the scenery as much as completely rampage through it like Godzilla through Tokyo unleashing radioactive fire breath everywhere. Practically everything out of his mouth is so hysterically over the top it's hard to ever take this man seriously - even when he's being genuinely threatening with a giant robot that towers over entire buildings spitting out destruction all over the place. The fact that he is also given into going off into tangents regarding himself for any number of reasons only adds to the sheer ridiculousness of his very dialogue.

Doctor West is also undeniably egocentric - easily offended by even the weakest insult, and often enjoys putting himself on a pedestal and speaking at length of his brilliance, expertise and how much lower on the food chain everyone is compared to him - despite various incidents of him getting his rear end routinely handed to him in and out of his machine and gets even worse if someone so much as says they haven't heard of him. He also as mentioned before has a tremendous lack of common sense, forgetting things that any other man or woman would know to include beforehand - like waterproofing for his Destroyer Robot when he plans to hide it in salt water - whether its because he's too caught up on his own ego or if he's generally that absent minded, things are truly uncertain (Spoilers: Its probably both).

However despite his tendency to ham things up and his many MANY flaws, people also tend to forget one vital fact - That every bit of his arrogance and constant self praise is completely well deserved. His mastery of science and technology is practically unmatched in the universe of Demonbane - and his creations, despite their constant tendency to get destroyed - always manage to keep up pace with Demonbane despite lacking any magical components (With the exception of DemonPAIN - the copy he made of Demonbane. The fact that he was able to mimic the design to such a degree alone with but a single page of the Necronomicon really says a lot). When things get serious, he is unbelievably competent and can provide just the right mechanical solution one needs. The best way to describe Dr West is 99% Hilarious, 1% Serious, 100% Awesome.

Abilities/Powers/Skills: Doctor West is a mechanical Savant. When it comes to a mechanical solution you can hardly find anyone better from his canon assuming you can put up with his personality. A Super mecha which is powered by a tome of eldritch lore that can only be repaired in several years due to the amount of damage it has taken and won't be able to move because said tome was devastated? West can fix that in an hour AND provide a temporary measure to allow it to be piloted once again.

He was also able to create a gynoid of such astounding quality that the only way anyone even knew she was a machine was the fact that she ended almost every sentence with 'Robo'. Additionally he programmed her far too well when it came to free will. While she does assist him, she was often very snarky and downright rude to him and often chased after Kurou because she fell in love with him. West often laments that.

Aside from his mechanical skills he is also a passable mecha pilot and is skilled with motorcycles. He also knows how to work a guitar very well. The Guitar Case doubles as a bazooka. Yeah it works exactly how you think it does.

The problem is that while he has the above skills, he is completely bereft of wisdom and common sense for the most part. If it wasn't for his downright insane luck, he would have died countless times given the situations he has been caught up in.

Weaknesses: No special weaknesses to speak of surprisingly.

Special Items: West will be bringing with him the following items:

His Guitar : Isn't anything special really. But it is very well taken care of.
His Guitar Case : Which is also a bazooka, which was mentioned a few times before
His Motorbike : Probably souped up, but not to a ridiculous extent. Possibly has a few things to make his entrances just a little grander.
Super West Type 28 Destroyer Robot [INSERT LONG TITLE HERE] : A mecha that's larger than most buildings. It has four drill arms, numerous cannons, missile launchers and a pair of laser eyes. It is also shaped like a drumcan. It goes through numerous iterations and names due to either getting completely wrecked or because he forgot something important for it i.e. forgetting to rust AND waterproof it when using it as an amphibious vehicle.
